[History] Pura Meru : Sisa Hindu di Pulau Lombok

Pulau Lombok  memang terkenal sebagai pulau dengan sebagian besar penduduknya adalah muslim, tapi tahukah kalian jika Lombok juga menyisakan bukti kejayaan Hindu di pulau tersebut?

Majapahit yang sangat terkenal tersebut ditengarai memegang peranan penting dalam setiap penyebaran hindu ke seluruh Indonesia. How come? Patihnya yang bernama Gajah Mada tersebut melakukan ekspedisi ke Bali untuk memperluas wilayah kekuasaannya termasuk menyebarkan agama hindu. Singkat cerita, kalian bisa cek beberapa kesamaan aksara antara Jawa, Bali dan Lombok. Memang berbeda, tapi masih terdapat kesamaannya. Saya sebagai seorang asli Jawa Timur yang pernah belajar hanacaraka, ketika ke Bali seketika merasa ‘Woah!! Aksaranya mirip!’. Ketika mengunjungi Pulau Lombok pun, saya tak kalah kagetnya ketika melihat aksara mirip aksara Jawa yang dituliskan di jalan sebagai penanda jalan. Kalau kalian pernah ke Jogja, kalian pasti pernah melihat penanda jalan berwarna hijau yang bertuliskan aksara Jawa. Nah di Lombok pun mirip seperti itu. Mengapa bisa seperti itu? Karena setelah diteliti pengaruh Majapahit yang terlalu kuat sampai di Pulau Bali, dan dari Pulau Bali dibawa menuju Pulau Lombok.

Salah satu jejak hindu bisa dilihat di Pulau Lombok adalah Pura Meru. Pura meru merupakan sisa peninggalan hindu, yang terbesar dan pura hindu kedua yang penting di Lombok. Pura di bangun pada tahun 1720 dan didedikasikan untuk trinitas hindu (Brahma, Vishnu dan Shiva). Meru sendiri konon singkatan dari gunung semeru karena yang membangun pura ini masih merupakan keturunan Singosari (CMIIW). Meru ini juga menyimbolkan tentang kesucian tiga gunung yaitu Gunung Rinjani, Gunung Agung dan Gunung Bromo. Terdiri dari 11 tingkat diperuntukkan Shiva, dan masing-masing 9 tingkat untuk Brahma dan Vishnu.

Pura Meru terletak di Jalan Selaparang cenderung berwarna oranye bata. Untuk bisa memasuki lingkungan pura ini, pengunjung membayar 10ribu rupiah dan akan dipinjami sepotong tali untuk digunakan untuk mengikat, selayaknya sarung yang digunakan di Prambanan ataupun Borobudur. Tersedia guide yang akan memandu pengunjung. Dengan corak warna oranye, lingkungan pura terbilang sepi dari pengunjung. Tidak terlalu besar dan tidak terlalu luas, namun cukup berperan penting bagi kejayaan hindu di masa itu.

Hello everyone! Are you foreigner who wants to visit Indonesia, especially Gili Air in Lombok? Or you guys, are Indonesians who want to visit Gili Air?

Take a look at this one!

Gili Air is one of the famous three Gilis in West Nusa Tenggara. You know, they are Gili Trawangan (which is so crowded comparing to the others Gilis), Gili Meno and Gili Air. It is close from Mataram, Lombok. Gili Air is the closest island from Lombok island. By the way, Gili means island.

How to get there?

You can reach Gili Air from Lombok by boat. Either it is fast boat which cost IDR 350k for one boat, or slow boat which cost IDR 15k and will go together with another 40 people in one big boat. It takes only 15 minutes. You may go there from Bali. I've heard it takes 2 hours from Bali. Depend on which harbor you will go.

Where I should stay?
 
One of good places you can try for staying is Biba Beach Village resort. This resort located is 10-15minutes from harbor by cidomo. Cidomo is one of transportation there since there are no motorized things on three gilis. This cidomo will take you there and cost about IDR 100k as I assume this is the normal cost for cidomo in those three islands.

This resort located next to the beach. I grant you a nice view to the beach with a beautiful sound of waves. It might be not as formal as other hotels in Java, but it is such a unique design they have. It's more like a bungalow which provide you nice main bed, extra bed, fine air co, fan, bathroom, cupboard, safe box, coffee tea water are also provided. And for sure it has veranda to relax yourself there. One thing that is not provided there, Television! But hey come on! You come for snorkeling, diving and playing on the beaches so why do you need television then?





What about the cost per night?

Well, comparing to the other hotels outside three gilis, this is absolutely fine since you will spend IDR 900k per night including breakfast (there are several type of breakfast like Local breakfast, western breakfast, etc). This is equal to USD 60-70. Cost range from IDR 600k to IDR 1million (around USD 50-100 per night). 

How is the situation there?

Quiet. Sure it is quiet as the island also quiet itself. You will have a good sleep with wave sound as a backsound. Really quiet and calm. It will gives you a good times to energize your body and soul.The staffs are so friendly and helpful. They will help and provide everything you need for your stays there.
